MANAGER, BUSINESS SOLUTIONS
Our client requires a Business Solutions Manager. The purpose of the role is to provide the leadership link between business needs, business objectives, & IT solutions. The BSM is responsible within a matrix environment to define and implement the IT projects and IT services required to meet overall business objectives of the organization. This is a permanent (not contract) role in the dynamic Canadian Headquarters of a Fortune 50 multinational corporation with strong logo recognition in suburban GTA.
Responsibilities of the role involve managing a Program Organization consisting of Business Analysis, Application Support & Maintenance and Project Development. This entails:
· Ensure Program's Operational systems meet the organizational technology requirements and the business user's agreed service levels within budget & resource parameters.
· Manage personnel resources through entire process, including hiring, coaching/mentoring, developing, evaluating, deploying & terminating when necessary.
· Ensure projects provide agreed deliverables with acceptable quality and within time & budget constraints.
· Review project team outputs such as Requirements, Project Plans, Test Plans, Technical Solutions, Implementation & Transition Plans and others as required to ensure quality and compliance.
· Oversee Continuous Improvement initiatives including improvements to program controls, standards, system reliability, and costs.
· Lead Business Process improvement initiatives for the users, and oversee IT initiatives driven out of these efforts.
· Report Program & Project activity, progress and performance to PMO and Sr Management.
· Build and maintain effective relationships with key users, outside vendors and other stakeholders in the Program.
· Strive continuously to make business processes and systems simpler, more productive, more efficient and less expensive.
Candidate Qualifications:
· University Degree in Computer Science or related field - or equivalent experience in Information Systems management
· 8-10 years experience in IT field (minimum).
· PMP designation (or in-process) is a definite asset.
· Training or experience with ITIL, CMMI or PMBOK frameworks preferred.
· Minimum of 5 years related work in a supervisory/managerial/business support role within an IT environment.
· Knowledge of application development in different environments including mainframe, Unix, Windows, web, and client / server (2 out of 3 minimum).
· Knowledge of business account management, negotiating, and objection handling.
· Experience managing project budgets up to $1 million.
· Experience managing groups with multiple projects active in parallel.
· Experience working with and managing external vendors.
· Team player with ability to coach and develop internal staff.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent interpersonal skills.
