MANAGER, NETWORK ENGINEERING


$102,081 -$127,602 per annum

Working with an energetic, talented and committed team of network engineers, you will be required to manage all network engineering aspects of the Metrolinx Information Technology infrastructure, providing reliable, secure, corporate data network infrastructure to all applicable sites through the selection, design, installation, maintenance and support of hardware and software components. You will also be responsible for providing a reliable and effective platform and installation for computer-based business systems including pre-purchase review, implementation, maintenance, upgrade, and support.  Our multidisciplinary I.T. division works as a team and you will obtain input from that group to establish standards and configurations for servers, storage devices, local and wide area networks, tape backup, desktop computers, printers, and other peripherals to support corporate network performance, security, and functional requirements. The security of our systems is critical, and you will be responsible for designing and managing network security systems, processes, and procedures, and also managing 3rd party vendors who provide related services. A core requirement of this position is to build effective relationships with the Network Operations and Application Development groups to enhance the service provided to our customers.

Qualifications: Post Secondary education in information technology, with particular emphasis on network technology and system operations or any combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent. Technical qualification in network operations provided by the following are essential: Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCDA), CISCO Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an asset.


 


To excel in this role, you will typically require a minimum eight (8) years related  work experience providing a solid background in computer and network delivery and managing a team of network engineers. You will have acquired a strong knowledge of privacy and security principles.  This will include a superior technical understanding of Active Directory, Windows Server, CISCO Networking, VOIP, SMS and Server Virtualization. You have a thorough and demonstrated understanding of network design, installation and administration applicable network, computer and PC operating systems PC and peripheral technology and configuration and maintenance data communications models, technologies and protocols system administrative and desktop software system security issues and practices.   You have a thorough understanding of current Best Practices in I.T. within the framework of system development methodologies and practices. Rounding out your technical know-how are your top-notch skills in organization and planning, and communications, both written and interpersonal.
