As part of Ernst & Young's Valuation & Business Modeling (V&BM) practice we are committed to providing the highest quality strategic valuation services for matters such as acquisitions, divestitures, financings, reorganizations, financial reporting, dispute resolution and decision making. The V&BM team helps clients understand the value of their business, their securities, intellectual property, capital equipment, intangibles, and other assets. Our services include:






  • Formal valuation opinions that may be required for compliance, regulatory or other purposes.


  • Fairness opinions to help companies fulfill their fiduciary duties by providing independent financial analysis for shareholders and boards of directors.


  • Valuation analysis and estimates for strategic planning, tax reorganizations and a variety of other purposes.


  • Financial Reporting - Recommendations of fair value of tangible and intangible assets to support financial statement assertions (e.g., purchase price allocation, goodwill impairment, asset impairment, investments in private companies, complex securities, financial instruments, etc.).


  • Business Modelling - Decision analysis models, risk assessment models, business planning models, reporting, asset management, and other complex data analysis requirements. Services include model design, build and review.


  • Litigation Support - Expert assistance and advice on financial and economic issues to assist clients in resolving disputes.


The Opportunity:




We offer an excellent opportunity for a talented Engineer with strong business acumen to play a key role in Ernst & Young's rapidly growing and dynamic Capital Equipment Group. Either individually or as part of a team, you will utilize your engineering background to help clients understand the value of their machinery and equipment. Our group is comprised of highly skilled valuation specialists in machinery & equipment, building and construction, quantity surveying and engineering. As part of the global Ernst & Young Capital Equipment Group with operations throughout the USA, Europe and Australasia, we utilise the varying engineering and business skills of our team members to determine the value of major capital equipment assets across a wide range of industries.




Responsibilities:




You will be responsible for conducting equipment appraisal and valuation analyses and applying valuation theories and approaches, including: gathering relevant supporting information analyzing market and research information participating in the formulation of valuation approaches developing valuation models and assisting in the preparation of formal and informal valuation reporting documents.












You will:




  • serve as a member of multiple client engagement teams,


  • identify issues and propose strategies related to the procedures executed,


  • assume a leadership role in report generation and detailed financial modeling,


  • commit to attaining an accredited membership with the American Society of Appraisers


  • maintain and develop positive, productive, and professional relationships with clients,


  • demonstrate teamwork and responsibility with engagement team members,


  • stay abreast of current business and economic developments relevant to the client's business, and


  • use current technology and tools to enhance the effectiveness of services provided




We are interested in candidates who have:




  • a bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, civil, chemical or aerospace preferred) with an interest in business or finance


  • an engineering aptitude combined with developed analytical skills


  • commencement or significant progress towards an accreditation in machinery and technical specialties with the American Society of Appraisers or an equivalent professional organisation


  • 1-2 years of relevant experience with an engineering, quantity surveying or national valuation firm or experience in the valuation practice of an accounting firm


  • the ability to manage project expenditures against budget and revenue to ensure the timely completion of work deliverables


  • excellent analytical, project management, communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills


  • PC proficiency including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.


This position also requires domestic and international travel, as necessary.




The successful candidate will have strong written and verbal communication/presentation skills superior analytical skills project and people management skills and an energetic attitude toward successful project completion.
