Business Intelligence Developer - Full Time

The Business Intelligence team is responsible for all operational, management and analytical reporting. This team interacts with key stakeholders dealing with strategic and emerging growth areas of the company. The successful incumbent will assist with development of the Data Warehouse, design and build departmental reports and will work in a growing Business Intelligence environment.

Responsibilities

Create and test ad-hoc SQL queries for Business clients to support new and existing business initiatives

Support the Business Intelligence environment by monitoring operations, performing scheduled maintenance, and troubleshooting service interruptions

Develop ETL packages

Work with existing team to improve quality and quantity of reporting products

Document requirements for business intelligence solutions

Provide consultation and advice to management and non-technical staff relating to solutions for business information requirements

Maintain current awareness of evolving methodologies, technologies, and tools for business intelligence and reporting

Work independently as well as contribute within a team environment

Demonstrate initiative and creativity relating to assigned responsibilities

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years experience within BI, IT application support and/or development

Post Secondary education related to the specific functions of this role

Solid expertise in relational database reporting

Proficient with SQL

Proficient with Microsoft Excel

History of meeting tight deadlines and meeting deliverables with a high level of accuracy

1-2 years experience performing ETL operations with tools like SQL Server Integration Services

1-2 years of data modeling

1-2 years of experience with software development, specifically with object oriented programming, C# and/or Java

1-2 years web scripting experience, specifically with PHP, ASP, and/or JSP

General knowledge and understanding of software development and reporting lifecycles

Experience working directly with data warehouses is a definite asset

Experience with documentation is a definite asset

Experience using reporting designer tools such as SQL Server Reporting Services, Crystal Reports, Cognos, or other designer tools is a definite asset

A deep understanding of data structure would be a definite asset

Experience specifically with MySQL and SQL Server 2005 is a definite asset
