Purpose: Under general supervision, formulates and defines system scope and objectives based on user needs and a good understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements. Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time and form of desired results. Includes analysis of business and user needs, documenting requirements, and translation into proper system requirement specifications. Guides and advises less experienced Business Systems Analysts. Competent to work at the highest technical level of most phases of systems analysis while considering the business implications of the application of technology to the current and future business environment.





Key Accountabilities:







  • Plans and works on assignments of the broadest scope, greatest complexity and longest duration




  • Participates in the investigation and resolution of the most complex and unusual problems




  • Recommends changes to established methods, suggests alternative solutions and new methods to improve quality and increase productivity




  • Translates high-level business requirements into functional specifications for input into application activities.




  • Interact with subject matter experts, application development, implementation support and production support staff to define functional specifications that meet users requirements and are technically appropriate.




  • Communicate with the Project Manager and assists in the management of client expectations




  • Creates or assist in the preparation and maintenance of project documentation including detailed requirements specifications, functional and supplementary specifications, use cases, GUI prototypes, system test plans, system implementation plans, user documentation and user training documentation




  • Monitors the quality assurance process to ensure quality deliverables throughout the Requirements Phase of the Project




  • Assists in the execution and validation of system testing and in the subsequent analysis and reporting of results




  • Provides implementation and post implementation support




  • Provides internal consulting to technical, sales, service line and operational staff as required




  • Assist in the preparation of client presentations concerning project scope, timeline, activities, issues, and progress as required




  • Estimates timelines for the requirements phase of the project and ensure that the requirements are scheduled in manageable components




  • Monitors the quality assurance process to ensure quality deliverables throughout the Requirements Phase of the Project.




  • Performs post-project reviews, document and implement corrective procedures




  • Manages one or more assignments concurrently








Qualifications







  • A University or college degree in a relevant discipline. Preference will be given to candidates with a Computer Science, Engineering or MBA




  • 8+ years experience in developing requirements for large software development or systems integration projects




  • 8+ years relevant experience in the Item Processing business or other related business




  • Working knowledge of a standardized software development methodology, such as the Rational Unified Process




  • Strong Conceptual thinker




  • Strategic planning skills and Facilitation skills




  • Excellent Knowledge of how the organization works




  • Leadership and customer relationship skills




  • Business and management skills




  • Communication skills especially preparing management presentation and reports
