Business Unit Description: Technology: responsible for the delivery of technology in support of all CIBC businesses and customers. Directly aligns to CIBC's businesses, with a technology team for each business. Delivers world class solutions in support of business strategies, through a combination of in-house systems development and working with leading technology partners. This group also manages CIBC's core computing facilities, telecommunications and networks globally.
Technology Operations: responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the Technology organization, focusing on an integrated approach to operations, service delivery, planning and the processes supporting CIBC. TO is also responsible for enterprise services such as email, Telecom, Disaster Recovery, Network Servers, Availability, Change Management and partnership with Hewlett Packard (HP).
Relevant Job Criteria: There is 1 full time position available - Full Time: 37.5 hrs/week. - Days required to work: Monday to Friday.
Job Overview: Purpose of Job: This is a key team member position providing systems automation development and support for 24 X 7 datacenter / network operations centre operations. Systems automation is to be realized primarily by implementation and ongoing support of HP OpenView, Mercury Business Availability Center products, Tidal Enterprise Scheduler and CA Autosys Workload Automation, and in-house developed utilities and scripts. The goal of Systems Automation is to manage on an exception rather than manual check basis. Role would provide support to CIBC Line of Business Technology Solution application development efforts as it relates to application system automation, including automated element monitoring, application probes and automation of job schedules.
Major Activities:
. Develop, implement, maintain, administer and support Mercury Business Availability Center suite of products, including: o BPM, MAM, RUM, EUM, SiteScope, SLM . Develop, maintain, administer and support systems automation tools, including: o HP OpenView (NMM, OVO, Performance Manager, OVIS, OVR) o CA Autosys Workload Automation o Tidalsoft Enterprise Job Scheduler o In-house developed utilities and scripts . Proactively identify and develop monitoring, automation, management by exception and support utilities to support the function of the Global Command Centre disciplines and Datacentre Operations . Identify, evaluate and implement tools, utilities and technology to support monitoring of end-to-end transactions integration of point solutions, monitoring of 3rd party systems integrated into CIBC Infrastructure . Help Global Command Centre (GCC) realize multiple levels of detail and executive summary view of general system health . Advise and consult with Line of Business Technology Solutions on use of tools to support business processing and proactive monitoring . Actively contribute in the ongoing development and maintenance of system management platform and automation: . Work with the Global Command Centre specialists to integrate, test, and maintain the reliability of the monitoring, management, and automation systems and facilities assuring high levels of availability and optimization . Continuously collaborate with Global Systems Engineering, Global Network Support, Service Providers and Vendors regarding opportunities for improving monitoring, management, and automation capabilities to support business change, efficiencies, and problem prevention . Actively pursue issue trends to reduce resolution times on common issues by providing Solution Centre with tools, tips and techniques.
Requirements: Knowledge/Skill Requirements:
. Four years experience with systems management and supporting automated operations in a large scale enterprise environments operating diverse technologies including: . Unix (primarily Sun Solaris) Intel (MS Windows) Oracle/Sybase/MS SQL Server BEA WebLogic IBM MQ series J2EE RedHat Linux . Some technical knowledge of the features/functionality and utilities of ancillary related technologies such as networking and/or Oracle, Web (e.g. Perl etc.) . Advanced technical knowledge of Unix and MS Windows . Some technical knowledge of the features/functionality and utilities of ancillary related technologies such as networking, RDBMS and enterprise applications such as MS Exchange, RIM Blackberry Enterprise Server, WebLogic, etc. . Outstanding problem determination, troubleshooting, and resolution skills . Ability to engage across division boundaries and at multiple levels where necessary to support Technology Solutions and Technical Infrastructure ability to understand holistic view of complex infrastructure ecosystems . Good verbal, written communications, and listening skills . Good mentoring and consulting skills . Strong team player and individual contributor with the ability to build relationships across work units . Works well under pressure and time constraints and can prioritize competing priorities appropriately. . Willingness to work overtime, carry pager and shifts if required. . Share knowledge and expertise with the Global Command Centre and Datacentre Operations personnel . Strong customer service skills and follow-up . The ideal candidate will have a two to four-year technical degree/diploma or the equivalent in related work experience. 6-10 years of practical experience in a structured operations 24 X 7 data centre, ASP/ISP or Network Operations Centre (NOC) environment supporting automation of Systems Management. The candidate will have proven experience in system monitoring and technical support of technical infrastructure. Experience in the financial services industry is desired. Proven working knowledge of:

HP OpenView (OVO, NNM, OVSPI, Performance Manager, OVIS, OVR) . Mercury Business Availability Center suite (BPM, MAM, RUM, EUM, SiteScope, SLM) . Multi-platform Enterprise Job Schedulers (CA Autosys preferred) . General working knowledge of general Unix utilities and scripting . General working knowledge of general MS Windows utilities and scripting . Familiarity with RDBMS and web hosting technologies
