Production Application Support Specialist - (Essbase, UNIX, Weblogic) Business Unit Description: Technology: responsible for the delivery of technology in support of all CIBC businesses and customers. Directly aligns to CIBC's businesses, with a technology team for each business. Delivers world class solutions in support of business strategies, through a combination of in-house systems development and working with leading technology partners. This group also manages CIBC's core computing facilities, telecommunications and networks globally. Technology Operations: responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the Technology organization, focusing on an integrated approach to operations, service delivery, planning and the processes supporting CIBC. TO is also responsible for enterprise services such as email, Telecom, Disaster Recovery, Network Servers, Availability, Change Management and partnership with Hewlett Packard (HP). Job Overview: PURPOSE OF JOB: Provide technical expertise for medium to highly complex projects/initiatives as they relate to the implementation and support of application and/or infrastructure technology in a multi platform environment. MAJOR ACTIVITIES: o Evaluate service requests to ensure adherence to standards and processes, identifying inconsistencies, analyzing potential impact and taking appropriate action. o Identify and resolve medium to highly complex production problems for support of applications. Identify root cause and defining actions to eliminate recurrence. o Coordinate and/or execute implementation plans for new medium to highly complex application and maintenance updates . o Monitor and analyze supported services to identify opportunities for improvement and recommends solutions. o Interact with developers and support staff to maintain a responsive and available infrastructure for the applications. Requirements: Technologies: -4 years of experience with Administration (advanced) of Oracle, Weblogic Server and/or Weblogic Integration -3 years of experience with UNIX Scripting and WLST Scripting -2 years of experience with Websphere and MQ administration -5 years of experience with Advanced troubleshooting skills -3 years of experience with SQL preferable in Oracle Database -2 years of experience with Windows scripting -2 years knowledge of job scheduling (CA) AutoSys -2 years of experience with Java and J2EE knowledge KNOWLEDGE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Extensive Work Experience: o Implementation--Knowledge of activities, tasks, practices, deliverables and techniques for implementing new or enhanced applications into a production environment. o Application Maintenance--Knowledge of and experience with defining, implementing changes to, and supporting a production application. o Technical Troubleshooting--Knowledge of approaches, tools and techniques for anticipating, recognizing, and resolving technical (hardware, software, application or operational) problems. o Production Control--Knowledge and utilization of production scheduling, control procedures and maintaining of processing service deliverables. o Problem Solving--Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems. o Managing Multiple Priorities--Ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups or activities. Effective judgment in prioritizing and time allocation. o IT Environment--Knowledge of organization's total information technology (it) environment. o Interpersonal Relationships--Knowledge of approaches, tools and techniques for working with individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner. o Business Intelligence, Informatica, WebLogic, MQ,, Siteminder, Batch Scheduling and Data Transfer, Netegrity Work Experience: o Written Communications--Ability to produce a variety of business documents that demonstrate command of language, clarity of thought and orderliness of presentation. o Systems Software Infrastructure--Knowledge of the existing and planned software technology and the global, regional and local software architecture and infrastructure components. o Oral Communications--Ability to express oneself and communicate with others verbally recognizing that verbal communication is more than just language - it includes tone, style and structure. JOB COMPLEXITIES/CHALLENGES: o Diagnosing and correlating disparate information to determine the appropriate course of action for medium to highly complex situations. This requires in-depth investigation and analysis to provide a solution in most situations. However, more complex situations are escalated as appropriate. o Evaluating complex technical information to determine risk levels and technical feasibility when making changes to applications. o Developing solutions or recommendations to increase effectiveness and efficiency (e.g., deployment methodologies). o Working in a subset of a highly complex environment where judgments are dependent on a number of variables such as time, complexity degree of uniqueness, , inconsistent information, and / or where many applications are impacted. Selecting the appropriate alternative from a number of alternatives, error in judgment in the selection process may have detrimental effects and have significant impacts (e.g., system outages, poor application performance, lost data, lost productivity). o Providing work oversight of analysts but no direct line management accountabilities.
