We have been growing our staff to continually better our services and support  to valued customers.   With this intent, we are currently seeking a Development Project Manager to join our team:

 

The Development Project Manager role is responsible for directing the activities of their teams while effectively balancing quality, time-to-market, and employee/infrastructure needs. The Development PM does this by performing 3 kinds of activities:

• Process Improvement / Best Practice Management - develop and implement best practices and ensure their appropriate application on their team


• Project Activity Management - manage day-to-day project based activities of their team


• Resource Management - perform resource management tasks,

Main Responsibilities

Process Improvement / Best Practice Management

• Implementation of System Development Lifecycle and Project Management methodologies understanding of inherent value of such and the ability to apply them in a flexible manner in various situations


• Ensure best practices are being appropriately applied by the teams and Development/IT organization.


• Proactively engage Management within the organization to identify opportunities for improvement and collaboration. 


• Act as change agents for initiatives and implementing best practices and training. 

Project Activity Management

• Core PM competencies: timeline management, scope management, risk management, issue management


• Additional PM competencies: timely decision-making, effective team building, ability to prioritize and delegate appropriately, deal with changing priorities, and hold others accountable to commitments


• Deliver multiple projects concurrently


• Manage day-to-day activities of their team to ensure successful completion of project goals.


• Prioritize work and allocate resources to competing issues/needs within Development organization


• Develop strategies describing how project goals are to be accomplished.


• Actively manage project risks within teams and projects. 


• Track, analyze, and report on team's activity to maximize team's results.


• Participate in their projects by contributing to software design, unit testing, and code inspection process as well as various documentation reviews. 

Resource Management

• Daily management of resources. This includes responsibility in regular performance management, plan training


• Provide general and Business leadership to the teams. 


• Ensure team has appropriate skills mix and no single points of expertise.


• Identify and ensure that necessary equipment and tools are available to team. 
  
  

Education, Experience and Skill Requirements:

Required

• Bachelor's degree or college diploma in Computer Science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience


• 10 or more years experience in software development lifecycle


• 6 years experience with managing large, complex projects using a disciplined approach to project management


• Detailed knowledge of all aspects of software development lifecycle (analysis, design, code, unit test, integration test, iterative development, packaging and delivery of product)


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills (multi-directional: downward with team, across to peers, and upward to management).


• Strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on negotiation, coaching and mentoring capabilities.


• Demonstrated problem solving and issue resolution skills in situations where the problems may be technical, managerial or interpersonal. Must identify, analyze, negotiate solution, and execute resolution to problems.


• Proven decision making skills, including the communication and consensus building of decision implementation


• Strong time management, prioritization and organizational skills


• People management experience in a team lead or technical lead role


• Project Management of large, complex implementations is definitely an asset
