QA Tester - 3 Month Contract, TORONTO OFFICE

Reporting to the QA Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that our custom client systems are of a high quality. He/she is responsible for finding and tracking defects, ensuring that our products are bug free.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

·          Performs test estimation and planning, manual and automated testing, reporting, and defect tracking

·          Communicates with Developers and Business Analysts to ensure that customer requirements and specifications are met

·          Tests applications and reports according to wireframe from the backend calculations/database testing

·          Tests on user interface, comparing to wireframe

·          Participates in the preparation of Quality Assurance documentation - test plan, test strategy, test cases, software release notes

·          Evaluates product readiness for product release

·          Participates in ad hoc special projects as required, and other tasks as assigned

 

Required Skills and Competencies

·          Post-secondary education in a relevant field - Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent experience

·          Experience working in the area of software testing, data validation and release management, ideally in the marketing and communications field, preferably in an automotive capacity

·          Demonstrated success as a QA Tester which involved executing test cases and tracking defects

·          Working knowledge of Microsoft .NET framework, languages & tools, including: HTML, ASP.NET, VB.NET, SQL

·          Knowledge of Software Life Cycle processes and best practices, particularly Configuration Management, and Build and Release Management

·          Knowledge of data and software testing methodologies using manual and automated tools, with hands-on experience designing and creating test documentation, test data and test run processes

·          Strong oral and written communication skills

·          Highly analytical with the ability and desire to navigate ambiguity, overcome confusion and simplify complex situations

·          Highly organized with an ability to work under tight deadlines and shifting priorities

·          Highly professional and presentable

·          Excellent attention to detail

·          Strong knowledge of MS Office - Word, Excel and Outlook

·          Ability to have fun at work is a must
