Business Unit Description: Technology: responsible for the delivery of technology in support of all CIBC businesses and customers. Directly aligns to CIBC's businesses, with a technology team for each business. Delivers world class solutions in support of business strategies, through a combination of in-house systems development and working with leading technology partners. This group also manages CIBC's core computing facilities, telecommunications and networks globally.
Retail Markets Technology: plans, delivers and supports end-to-end technology solutions for the various distribution channels and full range of products that service all of CIBC's Retail clients: CIBC's retail branch network, Internet, Automated Banking Machines (ABM's), telephone banking, credit products, GICs, Deposit Accounts, Global Payments and Wealth Management/Investment Products.
Relevant Job Criteria: - Full Time: 37.5 hrs/week.
Job Overview: We are looking for an individual with the right combination of skills and experience to join our dynamic and challenging work environment.
The individual will play key role in defining and participating on a Distribution Technology Branch and Call Center Governance Board that will provide oversight on all initiatives that will impact these desktops. The individual will define and publish the entry guidelines for applications that are coming to DT desktops that align with strategic directions. For example, code quality expecations, versioning capabilities and inter-application communication standards.
This position requires both breadth and depth of technology expertise. The right candidate must be highly proficient with current software development technology, tools and practices, particularly in distributed application development on both java and MS Windows platforms. The individual must also have expertise in business-tier, client-tier and data-tier technologies. The individual must possess good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate with team members, clients and executives.
Responsibilities . Develop and participate in a governance model for delivering large scale distributed applications and web sites based on various MS Technologies, Java, Portal and Host Integration technologies to branch and call center desktops. . Assess business needs and requirements against technology strategic directions. . Participate in the development of conceptual, logical and physical architectures. . Define application design principles/guidelines for concerns that cross - cut applications and desktops. . Gain alignment across multiple executives and development teams that guidelines and principles must be adhered to. . Provide effective communication within project teams and management. . . Provide ongoing technical support to project/product management, and other teams. . Work with Technology Infrastructure team and Architecture team to design and ensure application development and design principles. . Communicate with various lines of business partners, project managers and project team members.
Requirements: Required Skills The job involves both strong technical and communication skills. Experience and knowledge of software development methodologies and concepts are required. The candidate must have experience in application design and process. Strong communication skills are required. Candidates will be evaluated based of the following required skills: Must have skills: . Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Software Engineering or equivalent . Minimum 10 years development experience with a bredth of technologies. . Must have experience is enterprise scale development, building applications for multiple user communities. . Java/J2EE (5 yrs) .Net (3 yrs) . Experience in distributed computing, OO analysis, design and development. . Experience with data modeling and case tools . Strong Analytical Skills. . Proficient in English (oral and written). . Strongly motivated, quick to adapt to new work environment. . Leadership: strong team building skills, experience in gaining direction alignment across organization silos . Excellent inter-personal communications skills both presentational and written and team working skills.
