JOB TITLE:     Electronics Assembler


 


HOURS OF WORK:  7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Overtime as required.


                         


 


MAIN DUTIES:


Manually assemble various electronic components such as resistors, diodes, transistors, capacitors, integrated circuits, switches, wires and other electronic parts to designated locations on printed circuit boards

Assemble microcircuits requiring fine hand assembly

Install, mount, fasten, align and adjust parts, components, wiring and harnesses to subassemblies and assemblies using hand and small power tools

May replace defective components

Perform routine or repetitive assembly operations in producing sub-assembly or simple assembly units following detailed written or verbal guidelines and procedures to quality and quantity output standards

Using hand tools, jigs and automatic equipment, prepares and assembles basic electronic components/wiring harnesses/printed circuit boards (PCB's)

Activities include some of the following: preparing, cleaning, lead forming and cutting loading and bonding components to PCB's observing component orientation and colour coding where applicable

Rework units that have failed test/inspection or require change

Performs other related work as required

Follows workplace operating and environmental, health and safety procedures and guidelines


 


SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE TECHNICAL:


Completion of secondary school

On the job training

Ability to read and follow written instructions and procedures with minimum supervision


 


SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE NON-TECHNICAL:


Fine hand assembly and near vision

Sitting and/or standing at work station usually for most of the work day

May sometimes perform repetitive action tasks

Works with materials including solder (lead and unleaded), flux, cleaning fluids (i.e. Isopropyl alcohol), compressed air, conformal coating

Displays high standards of ethical conduct

Exhibits honesty and integrity

Refrains from theft-related, dishonest or unethical behaviour

Committed to quality service

Displays a high level of initiative, effort and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently

Works with minimal supervision

Demonstrates responsible behaviour and attention to detail

Responds appropriately to supervision

Makes an effort to follow policy and cooperate with supervisors

Aligns behaviour with the needs, priorities and goals of the organization

Listens to others and responds appropriately
