Engineering Design Systems (EDS) Applications Specialist

(6 month term position)

 

In this dynamic and challenging role, you will be working closely with the project Piping Design System (PDS) Administrator to develop user guides and project bulletins as well as working with Piping Designers to troubleshoot and discrepancies. Available immediately, this is a 6-month term position with the potential to develop into a long-term opportunity.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for customizing the Relational Database (RDB) to meet specific project requirements and will have a strong materials background. Along with coordinating with the Project Piping Engineer to develop and maintain:

• Piping Class Data
  
• Piping Material Class
  
• Dimension tables
  
• Associated Relational Database (RDB) Libraries
  
• Project specific pipe supports

  As a CAD Specialist, develops technical architectures, frameworks and strategies for either an organization or a major application area, to meet the business and application requirements.

  Technical mastery of one or more 3D multi-discipline CAD applications.  Analyse and evaluate alternative technology solutions to meet business problems.  Identify the policies and requirements that drive out a particular solution.

  Ensure the integration of all aspects of technology solutions. Monitor industry trends to ensure that solutions fit with company's directions

  Monitor industry trends to ensure that solutions fit with company's directions.  May be responsible for review EDS computer software and hardware systems and data requirements as well as communications and response needs.  Should be well versed in the following: CAD programming languages, local and wide area networks, operating systems and architectures, as well as knowledge of relevant applications which interface to CAD systems

  
  

   

  
  

   

  
  

   

  
  

   

  
  

   

  
  

  Desired Competencies

  
  
  
  
  • Experience working for an EPC/EPCM organization in the mining, mineral processing plant field.
    
  • Must be proficient in using MicroStation, Oracle, Isogen and EDEN.

    • Technical school graduate with at least 8 years' experience, with 5 of those years in the area of specialty
      

       
      

      This position is based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and you must be willing to travel to Fort McMurray, Alberta as required. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.  CoSyn offers a competitive salary and benefit package.
