Job Description
Operations Accountant is responsible for assisting in performance of all cost accounting activities, helping to maintain accounting systems that ensure the proper accounting and recording of company transactions providing statements, analysis, and other key management reports in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
· Administration of Subcontracts
· Collection of outstanding receivables, along with deposit of payments.
· Assist prepare owner progress billings, ensuring all necessary backup is attached for cost plus billings.
· Assist with the review of owner progress billings to ensure all costs billed with time and material invoicing is correct and balanced to reports, with change orders properly entered and invoiced.
· Create and/or review Labour, Equipment, Material (LEM's) or compile/track information for operations to create manual LEMs.
· Correct or review changes made to costing due to errors or owner required changes for use in LEM's or owner billings.
· Preperation of accounts receivable, subtrade and change order reconciliations as required by project managers, corporate accounting and owners.
· Complete weekly cash flow forecast
· Enter payroll, subsistence, and travel information into Toolbox if required, meeting all processing deadlines.
· Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Preference will be given to candidates with the following qualifications
Education: Bachelor Degree in Business or Accounting
Experience: Minimum of two years general accounting experience. Construction experience an asset.
Desired Skills:
· Knowledge of cost accounting , preferably in a construction environment.
· Strong analytical and reasoning abilities.
· Well organized, with a strong work ethic and strict attention to detail.
· Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Ability to work effectively independently and as a team member.
· Knowledge of integrated financial and management/cost accounting computer systems, preferably in a construction environment. .
· Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
