We are seeking a qualified Accountant to join our client's organization in Bermuda. Reporting to the CFO, the successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of accounting, supervisory and administrative duties for a group of companies in the information technology, telecommunications, retail, construction and structured cabling industries. Knowledge of and/or prior experience working in any of these environments would be appreciated.
Responsibilities will include:
- Preparation of monthly financial statements for the group of companies in accordance with US and Canadian GAAP
- Preparation of monthly and annual budgets, conducting comparisons and variance analysis of any significant differences
- Coordinate and manage the annual audit, including the preparation of annual audit files, annual financial statements and footnote disclosures and liaison with the auditors
- Prepare, analyze, and report on divisional revenues, profitability and other key performance measures
- Processing of bi-monthly payroll and filing of quarterly payroll tax returns
- Ensure that there are adequate controls and checks in place to maintain the integrity of the books and records for the companies
- Control and reconcile sub ledger accounts to General Ledger, including bank reconciliations
- Inventory control including quarterly inventory counts and maintaining the Fixed Assets inventory and depreciation schedules
Requirements:
- A Professional Accounting qualification (CA, CPA, CGA, CMA) with at least 3 years of experience as a qualified Accountant
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Experience with contract revenue recognition and/or experience in the retail sales industry would be beneficial
- Ability to implement and enforce inventory controls
- Strong computer systems experience in a Microsoft environment - experience with Great Plains would be an asset
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
- Staff management experience
- Ability to meet deadlines while working on own initiative as well as being able to work effectively in a team environment
This position relocating to Bermuda for an initial term of 2-3 years (renewable subject to work permit approval). Due to the international move required, candidates should be highly portable and adaptable, with outside interests that lend themselves to this idyllic living environment.
Our client offers a very competitive and nearly tax-free compensation package including relocation assistance and health benefits. Bermuda is a low-tax environment with a maximum payroll tax deduction of 5.75%.
