Our client a progressive organization in the Hamilton area has an immediate requirement for a Software Development Engineer - User Interface.  You possess three to five years experience in a Software Development Engineer role and thrive in an entrepreneurial work environment. 


Responsibilities:


As an experienced software Engineer you possess experience in computer graphic design that develop systems for image capture, storage and analysis.  This position emphasizes the graphical user interface for managing the capture, browsing and analysis of petabye-scale data sets.  You will be part of a team that designs a high performance information storage system and its corresponding viewer and analysis components.  Specific duties include writing software for managing high volumes of imagery and metadata while developing the GUI to facilitate access to the is information.  You will have demonstrated the ability to design, develop and test these systems using modern software engineering techniques.  Responsibilities also include working with manufacturing staff and field technicians to help resolve problems.      


Requirements:


·         Designing, implementing and maintaining software modules/subsystems generating and conducting developer tests.


·         Preparing technical documentation.


·         Working with hardware development team.


·         Leading and participating in design and code reviews.


·         Providing estimates and schedules for development projects.


·         Accurate and frequent status reporting to management.


·         Must be eligible to meet the controller goods program requirement and be able to hold a Canadian Security Clearance.


 


Experience:



  • Minimum of three to five years experience designing graphics/gaming software.

  • Bachelors Degree in Software Engineering or equivalent.

  • Associates Degree in Computer Graphics Design is an asset.

  • Knowledge of aerospace software design standards is an asset.


·         Familiarity with SEI CMMI, software engineering practices, background in system or software requirements development.


·         Graphic design experience is highly desirable.


·         Human factors engineering ability to present complex concepts/processes in an easily comprehensible manner to end users.


·         Some hardware development experience is desirable.


·         Experience in the following areas is considered an asset:


o   Multiplatform GUI programming


o   Graphics/gaming programming


o   Handheld and mobile device application development


o   Network based video streaming technologies


o   IP base network storage technologies


o   Inertial navigation.


·         Experience in the following software is considered an asset:


o   Languages: C/C++, Python, CLI scripting


o   Frameworks: Qt, OpenGL, KML, common digital image/video formats.


o   Operating systems: Windows, Linux and or OSX.


o   Development: GCC tool chain, Eclipse, MS Visual Studio


o   Applications: Google Earth, Adobe Creative Suite, Maya/Blender


o   Hardware: Image sensors/camera systems, IP based networking equipment, NAS/SAN appliances.
