Purpose:



The Regional Credit Manager supports the Credit, Collection and Accounts Receivable function for the Credit Department within the Region and applicable Division(s).  The primary objective of the position is to improve the Days Sales Outstanding (D.S.O.) and delinquency rates, while providing superior customer service to both internal and external customers, in concert with growing revenue and protecting company assets.

Position Summary:


 


Responsible and accountable for the measure and management of the collection activity, credit analysis/assessment of risk for credit accounts and to ensure accounts receivable activity is accurate and timely. Additional responsibilities include resource and relationship management, negotiation, legal administration, reporting and improved communication.

Operations Management


Improve Days Sales Outstanding (D.S.O.), account balances over 90 days past due, and unapplied payments while increasing % current.

Responsible to ensure the receivable portfolio(s) are collected within terms while adhering to professional, ethical and legal collection practices.

Continuously evaluate all credit review and collection processes to mitigate corporate risk and report on potential corporate exposure due to receivables issues.


Responsible for managing 3rd party collection files and monitoring results.


Direct productivity improvement efforts to ensure all processes are efficient, cost effective, and consistent with overall department practices.

Ensure adequate internal controls are in place to satisfy control requirements across the department processes within the Region.

Minimize bad debt and related write-offs.


To ensure appropriate provisions are in place for high risk accounts while minimizing terminal loss.


Improve customer care initiatives for both internal and external customers.

Build and maintain working relationships with the Transportation, Customer Care, Sales, and the IS Departments to assist in department needs to include accounts receivables, collect past due funds, invoicing processes, and report on total receivables.

Resource Management


Manage Collections/Credit and Cash Applications staff within the Region.  

Work with Credit Analyst to focus on account prioritization, communication and timely collection activity.


Ensure credit limits, performance trends and related analysis are performed on an ongoing and regular basis.         

Recruit, interview, qualified personnel.

Ensure compliance with accounting principles, Staples policies, and SLA's for the team.

Review and manage performance goals with team members.

Conduct regular evaluations of performance and evaluate against industry standards of speed, cost and recovery.

Ensure delivery of business results by meeting or exceeding all service level agreements.

Ensure team members receive orientation and appropriate developmental opportunities.

Ensure work team is adequately equipped to perform their duties and responsibilities.

Provide regular and effective performance management to team members.

Manage employee retention.

Create and maintain a positive work environment.

Relationship Management


Develop a strong and harmonious relationship with customers both internal and external.

Serve as the primary liaison with the Sales Organization on all elevated credit related issues within the Region.

Work with Sales to ensure the Regional Team is meeting all customer and sales service standards.

Promote strong collaborative relationships between Credit Analysts and Cash Application Clerks in concert with other internal teams.

Reporting


Monthly activity summary/review and related Month End reporting of Days Sales Outstanding (D.S.O.).


Ensure timely invoice/billing and process flow.


Monthly review of Credit Accounts and utilization of assigned credit facilities.


Report and account for unapplied cash.
