Manager, Accounting Policy and Advisory Reference Number: G - 013 Location: Toronto - 299 Queen St West Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Overtime as required. Responsibilities: This position reports directly to the Director, External Reporting and will form a key role within the IFRS project team. Will work with the Director, External Reporting to accomplish the following: · Coordinate, manage and implement new international financial reporting standards. · Assist in the preparation of detailed accounting policy papers and memorandums comparing existing accounting requirements to IFRS requirements, which can be used in developing a company-wide IFRS accounting policy manual. · Coordinate with finance and operational staff from the Company's functional reporting units to ensure timely and accurate submission of International GAAP compliant financial information (i.e. TV, Print, Radio, Tax and Treasury). · Assist in the development and delivery of training courses on various IFRS topics to educate various functional areas/business units across the Company on the new reporting requirements under IFRS. · Monitor the activities of the Canadian, US and International accounting standards setting bodies for new developments. · Work closely with the Company's functional reporting units in developing an efficient process for gathering and analyzing IFRS financial information post implementation. · Prepare information and status updates, as required, for the Steering Committee and Audit Committee. · Assist in quarterly and year end reporting requirements, as required (such as researching and analyzing complex accounting issues and preparation of consolidated financial statements, including the transitional IFRS balance sheet.) · Liasing with external auditors on IFRS policy related issues and other complex accounting issues as required. Qualifications: · CA accounting designation required with at least 4-5 years experience gained at a Big 4 CA firm. · Strong technical accounting and analytical skills, working knowledge of current accounting standards (Canadian GAAP, IFRS, US GAAP) and hands on experience preparing and reviewing consolidated financial statements including note disclosures. · Strong project management skills with the ability to leverage resources (people, processes, departments, etc.) to complete objectives effectively and efficiently. · Demonstrated ability to work independently and establish priorities to meet tight deadlines. Flexible when working with changing deadlines and deliverables. · Excellent oral and written communication skills - for report writing and communication at all levels of management · A self starter, leader, team player · Strong conceptual skills and can see the big picture in a complex environment.
