THE OPPORTUNITY:

Our client, a leader in aviation equipment and services is looking for a Corporate Controller to report directly to the Chief Accounting Officer.  He/she will be the key individual responsible for developing and leading a financial reporting centre of expertise. The focus of this position will be on research, technical procedures and documentation of accounting positions and technical issues as well as internal and external financial reporting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Provide leadership and oversee all documentation and management of technical accounting matters. 



Liaise with internal and external organizations on technical accounting matters. 



Escalate support and decision making for accounting and or process issues. 



Research new accounting standards and technical literature around unique events or transactions. 



Ensure all financial reporting is up to date on new accounting pronouncements. 



Work with business unit managers to determine the accounting and reporting impact of proposed business transactions.  



Provide technical accounting research and documentation as it relates to Canadian GAAP, US GAAP and IFRS.  



Function as the key contact for the company's businesses with respect to GAAP questions and answers. 



Lead team of technical experts who aid the business units in determining the appropriate accounting treatment for unique, non-routine, or complex transactions.   



REQUIREMENTS:  



Possesses a degree or diploma in Business, Finance or Accounting.  



10 to 15 years of professional progressive experience in financial management roles in large, multi- jurisdiction publicly traded companies, preferably with experience at the senior leadership level.   



CA or CPA designation A MUST.   



Public company, Canadian / US GAAP / IFRS reporting experience.   



Sarbanes-Oxley experience.   



In-depth knowledge of corporate leasing practices.   



Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.    



Strong analytical skills.   



Strong communication skills (both written and oral).   



Leadership experience in a fast paced, geographically diverse, dynamic environment.
