Position Purpose


As part of the Infoway Solutions Products and Services team, the Laboratory Subject Matter Expert (SME) is expected to take a lead role in the pan Canadian Laboratory Standards domain. The SME may provide support throughout the standards lifecycle including development, implementation, maintenance, education and training, governance and certification of standards.


Major Responsibilities



  • Provide Laboratory business and standards expertise in support of Infoway projects and services (development, implementation, maintenance, education and training, governance and certification)

  • Share expert Laboratory domain business experiences and standards knowledge in support of Infoway projects and services

  • Provide expert opinion as required including reviewing statements of work, plans and deliverables for standards-related project

  • Handle inquiries on Laboratory standards domain and published artifacts

  • Maintain Laboratory standards artifacts

  • Lead standards maintenance in the Laboratory domain to ensure artifacts remain relevant both from a technical and a business perspective

  • Perform model changes, business changes, and terminology changes

  • Ensure alignment of pan-Canadian Standards with national and international Standards

  • Influence and contribute to the work of national and international Standards Development Organization meetings and calls

  • Provide support to pan-Canadian Standards Working Groups


Education



  • Post secondary diploma or degree in laboratory medicine, business administration, health information or related field


Qualifications



  • Experience in standards development, maintenance and/or implementation for complex enterprise information systems in the healthcare industry

  • Experience in implementing and working with Laboratory standards and related terminologies

  • Expert knowledge of Laboratory domain and HL7 v3

  • Project Management and implementation experience within the Laboratory domain

  • Knowledge of terminology, messaging and interoperability standards

  • Knowledge of LOINC® and the pCLOCD

  • Communication skills to present standards concepts to various stakeholders

  • Analytical skills to identify gaps and deficiencies and develop technical solutions

  • Planning and organization skills to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously

  • Interpersonal skills to manage relationships

  • Team skills to work collaboratively toward corporate goals

  • Fluency in both official languages is an asset

  • Ability to travel 15-20% of time
