Retail Accountant Home Health Care (contract position)




 


 


SUMMARY


 


Reporting to the Manager, Home Health Care Accounting, the HHC Accountant will be directly responsible for providing accounting services to a set of Shoppers Home Health Care stores.


 


 


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



 


         Responsible for the accounting function for 27 Shoppers Home Health Care Stores (additional stores may be added as they are opened/acquired)


         Reconcile all accounts on a period basis for the same set of stores, including A/R control account to the Store A/R sub-ledger and the Rental/Demo Assets Control accounts to Store Rental/Demo Assets sub-ledger


         Prepare all necessary journal entries to record additions, disposals and depreciation of Rental/Demo Assets


         Analyze Allowance for Bad Debts requirements for all SHHC stores on a period basis and prepare and upload all necessary journal entries to record changes in Allowance


         Review Store Financial statements prior to period end close to ensure accuracy


         Investigate Store queries regarding their Financial statements


         Prepare and enter period end adjusting and accrual journal entries


         Prepare period end Reporting Packages for SHHC senior management and Corporate accounting submissions (i.e. white book)


         Perform Variance Analysis on P&L accounts at each period-end


         Prepare periodic Sales commission reporting


         Perform Store Inventory count reconciliations for the same set of stores


         Monitor interface of sales data into Spam


         Prepare year-end schedules as specified by External Auditors


         Ensure Financial reporting deadlines are met


         Any additional analysis or project work as requested by the manager


 


 


QUALIFICATIONS


 


      Minimum 3 years Accounting experience


      Proficient with office 97 particularly with MS Word and Excel


      CA/CMA/CGA designation would be an asset


      Advanced abilities in Excel would be an asset


      Lawson experience would be an asset


      SDM and/or SHHC store experience would be an asset
